Chip shots
The arc of the swing whether small or large should remain the same as you swing down and strike through the hitting area.. Your hands and arms should swing left of the target just after impact for a right hander, or right for a left hander. If your hands and arms move left, they are taking the place of your leading hip. Your hips need to rotate as you swing through the ball. Imagine having the end of the club grip in close proximity to your leading hip pocket. This will keep the shank away from the ball. An excellent practice routine for this is to put a row of 6 balls close together in line away from the body. Start by hitting the front one and avoiding hitting the one next to it and so on.
Golfers watching a shot played on television often remark the ball starts well to the right of the target this is because the view of the swing plane from behind , the eye sees the swing arch tracking left making the ball flight appear well to the right.
